Keeping an eye on the future – that's what makes us unique
In line with the Saxonian educational curriculum and syllabus supported by international guidelines and scientific findings, our students are prepared for life and global competition. This is done through new forms of learning, performance comparisons between the schools of our network and other Saxonian schools, creative competitions and extensive additional offers.
Native speakers, practice partners and modern media technology, excursions to the respective foreign language countries, recognized foreign language certificates throughout Europe: these are the reasons regional companies are noticing our students.
The special features of our schools include an early business knowledge transfer: practical relevance is given continuously through annual, multi-day company internships, practical work assignments in a wide range of trades, completion of an entrepreneurial certificates and taster sessions at educational institutions.
What we want
The cornerstones of our actions are mutual respect, self-reflection, teamwork and the development of empathy, tolerance and social values. We encourage our students to raise awareness of our environment, to develop a willingness to take responsibility for themselves and others, and to promote social justice.
What we offer
We want to create a school climate of cooperation and fair interaction between students, teachers, school management and parents. Because: every student has the right to good education!
Within a globalized world and a united Europe, we promote diverse Europe-oriented, intercultural measures and projects. Through this, we strengthen the European idea, convey knowledge about the European Union, and highlight the chances and opportunities offered by the EU.
The SIS schools are recognized competence centers for the European language certificate "TELC" (The European Language Certificates ), which enables students to acquire and train additional language skills (levels A2 and B1 already in grade 8) in a familiar learning environment, giving our students the ticket to many global companies because TELC also attracts international attention.
And of course, acquiring the computer driver's license is part of our standard.
Our International high schools in Reinsdorf and Geithain are also IB-World-Schools (IB = International Baccalaureate = International High School Diploma). Based on a concept that is very strongly oriented towards foreign languages, the media, the economy and values, motivated and high-performance students can prepare for the International Baccalaureate (IBA) there. In addition to the German Abitur, the International Abitur, which was originally developed for diplomats, can be taken as a second degree within the scope of an IB Diploma program. Pupils in grades 7 to 10 have a total of two hours per week in addition to the usual teaching material in history, biology and geography - exclusively in English. The diploma examination takes place after the final examination at the IB Schools in Reinsdorf and Geithain.
An opportunity for everyone
Students who have not received a recommendation for the Gymnasium due to the changed evaluation guidelines, can find alternative options: In the secondary schools (Oberschulen) in the SIS network, students from form 5 on can choose among additional foreign languages, media and business studies. This enabled them to transition to the grammar school (Gymnasium) and head towards the A-level examination (Abitur).
Healthy body – healthy spirit
"Healthy School" – two of our primary schools as well as the International High School Meerane were the recipients of this award from the Saxonian State Association for Health Promotion e. V. The award recognizes a healthy school climate, comprehensive health skills of the staff and the students as well as an excellent quality management to maintain these high standards. The SIS schools also scored points with their comprehensive all-day program and projects for promoting healthy living. The extraordinary quietness and cleanliness in the entire school building also left a positive impression.
Quality is rewarded
The teaching and educational commitment pays off: At the annual Saxonian competency tests, the SIS students regularly exceed the Saxonian average in the tested subjects, sometimes by a wide margin.
Saxony International School - Carl Hahn gGmbH received a recognised award of the region in October 2010 for its future-oriented and exemplary education.
The International Secondary Schools in Reinsdorf and Elsterberg were awarded the Saxonian quality seal for occupational and study orientation.
In the annual Saxony-wide competency tests, the schools of the SIS network consistently achieve above-average results.
The extra-curricular school clubs at the International Primary School in Glauchau include foreign languages, media and social interaction. They were rated as one of the top five out of 5,000 German schools tested.
And finally, in 2015, two of our elementary and five secondary schools were awarded the "European School in Saxony" seal of approval for their foreign-language, internationally oriented curriculum and intercultural education.
