We place particular emphasis on bilingual education with native speakers from over 30 nations. This enables our students to obtain internationally recognized foreign language certificates and take part in language excursions abroad.

We don't learn for school, we learn for life! That's why, in addition to the Saxon curriculum, we offer changing modules that prepare students for their future lives. We offer maximum practical relevance through topics such as financial coaching, programming, presentations, craftsmanship, healthy eating and many other areas.
We provide musical, artistic and cultural education across all grades and also across year groups. At seasonal and regional performances, we not only showcase our skills, but also our social commitment in the region. You will receive a detailed list of the points in the school.

The content is subject to a certain dynamic and is adapted according to the development of our time.
Motivated and high-achieving students can prepare for the International Baccalaureate (IB) there on the basis of a concept with a strong focus on foreign languages, media, business and values. In addition to the German Abitur, the International Abitur, which was originally developed for the children of diplomats, can be taken as a second qualification as part of an IB Diploma Program. In addition to the normal curriculum, students in years 7 to 10 have a total of two hours per week of in-depth lessons in history, biology and geography - in English. The diploma examination takes place after the Abitur examination at the IB Schools in Reinsdorf and Geithain.
Since 2019, our secondary schools and grammar schools have had activity-oriented and contemporary independent learning time for all pupils, known as 80+10 for short. Of the 90 minutes in a double lesson, 10 minutes are now reserved to deal with topics outside the pure teaching of subject matter, for example for complex, interdisciplinary and/or cross-class projects. This is a new form of teaching, processing and grasping material. Pupils work through their learning material independently and gain independence and personal responsibility.
We would like to provide each of our pupils from Year 2 onwards with their own notebook at a reasonable price, which will be their personal work device. We have opted for a standardized, universally usable 2-in-1 device (laptop and tablet), which meets all the requirements of a modern digital classroom perfectly. A laptop that can be used to write both electronically and with a pen, contains electronic textbooks, has access to the school cloud (LernSax) and contains all the applications that are necessary for everyday school life. We will provide special support for families with several children or limited financial resources when purchasing a notebook!
Pupils who do not receive an educational recommendation for grammar school due to the changed assessment guidelines also have good prospects with us: with the grammar school-oriented secondary school in the SIS school network, they can take advantage of further foreign language, media and business-oriented courses from year 5 onwards and thus achieve the later transition to grammar school and aim for the school-leaving examination.
These tests are carried out and evaluated by a working group of scientists and teachers at the University of Jena. We offer our students the opportunity to take a TELC exam in English and Spanish. These exams are taken in English from level A1 to C1 and in Spanish from A1 to B1.
SIS also awards scholarships every year. These recognize the outstanding achievements and social skills of these students. Many of our secondary school students decide to continue their studies at a vocational grammar school after successfully completing their secondary school education.
